The Madrigals: Carlena is very close to her family, especially her sister Dolores. Since Dolores can hear from far away and sometimes noises can be too much, and Carlena can sometimes get overwhelmed by everyone's thoughts, they like to retreat into Carlena's room to not worry about the sound. Camilo likes to make fun of his big sister and is the only person to use the nickname Carl because he knows it annoys her. Carlena is also close to Antonio and worried about him getting his gift and could read his panicked thoughts before the ceremony happened. Carlena's gift isn't used that often, sometimes to help police or parents, so Carlena isn't that close with her Abuelita, who likes the members of the family who can help their community. So Carlena ended up having a kinship with her Tio Bruno who felt the same. When he left to help Mirabel after having his vision, Carlena could still hear his thoughts and told Dolores who could also hear him in the walls. The two kept Bruno's secret until he reappeared at the end of the movie. Carlena and Mirabel were somewhat close, since Carlena sound hear her thoughts and know how she felt about being a part of the family with no gift, but they didn't talk too much about it either because Carlena didn't want to make Mirabel feel worse.
